I was 19 years old when I started my first company. I was working a nine-to-five job, working nights and weekends while growing my business. Here are three tips to help you achieve success in your business! This helped me turn my side hustle into a business which has grown into multiple states and has gradually increased revenue year over year. The following three tips are going to be critical for you –
Be Sold on Your Solution
If you are thinking about starting a business and you’re ready to make the leap, the very first thing is you need is to be sold on your product or service! You’ve got to be certain that your product or service is the most exceptional solution available. To the degree that you are sold, is a direct indication to how well you’re going to represent your organization, and how well you will be able to maintain momentum and motivation through hard times. It’s important that you believe that your products and services are the absolute best!
What happens if one day a better product is made available to your clients? Your next steps should be to identify exactly why that product is better, make the changes to your product until you meet, or preferably exceed, the features you’ve identified. Once the changes have been made you can once again represent your product as the best because it will be true. This is the game in business.
It’s this constant understanding that what you have to offer is the greatest solution on the planet. Then, if you encounter something slightly better you must incorporate and adapt. It’s constant incorporation of better features and value adds to your product and service.
“It’s constantly evolving your offer, to be the greatest solution on the planet!”
Commitment Over All Else!
You’ve got to commit to the mission and make your success a non-negotiable. If you’re starting a business, it will take nothing short of your full commitment, time, energy, and money. If you’re not willing to fully commit to this and throw everything in on the mission, you are likely to fail.
I tell you this because I don’t want you to go through the punishment that will find you if you are half committed, as you won’t have the resolve to keep going with sufficient energy. If you are not fully committed and know for a fact that you are going to be successful in this new endeavor, you might as well not even start.
You’re going to get punished, lose money, and fail, and if you’re not fully committed you will quit when times become hard. Fully commit to the mission and the growth of your company. Do whatever it takes to win and you’re much more likely to be successful.
Hammer the Phones!
I cannot stress this enough. This will never not be a part of your business growth; you must get on the phone, and be comfortable communicating with people who aren’t expecting your call. Client surveys, vendor sourcing, contacting new potential customers and even hiring new team members are all forms of cold calls and will be essential to your development.
You need to be able to get on the phone and ask questions, get information and identify new opportunities. You never know what interactions are going to lead to new opportunities so you have to be willing to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
You will be shocked at how often one conversation can lead you into a new opportunity you would have never anticipated. The truth is you have to put yourself into a lot of conversations, so you have an opportunity for doors to open. Every interaction is both sales and customer service, so you have to learn how to communicate with people effectively.
You need to know how to add value to others, whether it’s vendors, clients or potential team members, you’ve got to understand that you have value to give and what you’re trying to achieve in return.
Get comfortable with getting on the phone. The only way to improve and be successful is making those calls on a continuous basis. This will grow your business faster than any other single action, and it costs you nothing to call somebody. No advertising dollars, just your time and your attention to get on the phone to build your business.
With these three tips, your business will continue to grow. By knowing your product or solution is the best, you will have the confidence to commit fully to your mission. Once you are fully committed, you must hammer the phones and let people know about your great solutions. Having the confidence to know your solution is the best, leads to your potential clients believing it’s the best too. Use these tips to turn your side hustle into an unstoppable business.
